Prof. Naohiro Yoshida, a PI of ELSI, was awarded Autumn 2018 Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon.
The Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon is awarded to individuals who have contributed to academic and artistic developments, improvements and accomplishments.

Prof. Yoshida's resume:
In 1983, he left Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Tokyo Tech., and became a Postdoctoral Fellow, Mitsubishi-Kasei Institute of Life Sciences. In 1984 he got PhD at Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Tokyo Tech., and became an Assist. Prof., and later, Assoc. Prof., School of Science, Toyama Univ. In 1994, he became Assoc. Prof., Institute of Hydrospheric-Atmospheric Sciences, Nagoya Univ. In 1998, he became Prof., Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Tokyo Tech., then, Prof., Frontier Collaborative Research Center for 2002-2007, and in 2012 he was additionally appointed as a Principal Investigator, Earth-Life Science Institute, and from 2016, Prof., School of Materials and Chemical Technology.
In our university, he was an Assistant Vice President for research, Vice Director of the Research Strategy Office, Vice Director of Inter-Departmental Organization for Environment and Energy. He was an Editor of Geophysical Research Letters and Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, a Program Officer at Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS), Member of the Environment, Chemistry, and Earth Science Divisions, Science Council of Japan, President of the Geochemical Society of Japan. He is now a Science Advisory Panel member of GEO-6, United Nations Environmental Programme, Science Steering Committee Member of International Affairs at JSPS, and President of the International Symposium on Isotopomers. He was elected to be a Fellow of American Geophysical Union which will be awarded this Dec. This Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon is awarded because of his long and enthusiastic activities in research and education described above.
