Workshop at Tokyo Tech
Chemical and Isotopic Evolution of the Early Solar System and the Earth-Moon System: Meteorite Perspective
This workshop is organized by the group A01 (Hadean Earth) of the research program "Hadean Bioscience: Grant-In-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas" and co-organized by Earth Life Science Institute (ELSI) at Tokyo Tech.
The life on Earth is considered to emerge during the Hadean era. However, the environment of the location from which the life on Earth has emerged is still controversial. One of the useful approaches for solving this problem is to constrain the chemical composition of the proto Earth and the mechanism of the final accretion of the Earth, as well as the early chemical evolution of the Earth. In this workshop, we invite four cosmochemists as guest speakers, who have the expertise in highly precise isotope analysis of extraterrestrial materials, dating of meteorites utilizing non-traditional radiogenic isotope systematics, and isotopic analysis of meteorites with high spatial resolution. We will discuss how chemical and isotopic analyses of meteorites play a significant role in elucidating the evolution of the early Solar System and the Earth-Moon system, which should be directly connected to the understanding of geochemical conditions where the first life on Earth has emerged.
