The workshop topic is Large-Scale Simulations of the Formation and Evolution of Planetary Systems. We will discuss both the physics of the processes involved, as well as their algorithmic implementations on massively parallel high-performance computers. Applications will cover the solar system as well as planetary systems and protoplanetary disks around other stars.
It will be a "working workshop" with typically only one talk per day, while the rest of the time is left free for participants to engage in discussions, which may or may not result in spontaneous collaborations. The location of Kobe is chosen because of its proximity to the K-computer, two years ago the world's fastest super-computer.
