ELSI Assembly
ELSI Assembly is a platform to bring all ELSI members together to discuss science and share their respective research expertise.
ELSI Assembly's style is flexible, to meet the information-sharing requests and needs of ELSI members. Here are examples of the current forms:
--- Round-Table Discussions ---
Participants are divided into tables (usually 3 tables) and discuss a given scientific topic. Each table is led by one leader and has a specific scientific topic. Participants are encouraged to choose one table where the topic is not in their area of specialty. Attendees can feel free to ask the table leader very basic questions and discuss the topic from an entry-level point of view. Too detailed or too specialized discussion is basically not encouraged as the aim of this style is to expand the scientific knowledge of all ELSI members across disciplines, so as to facilitate collaborations and discussions between them.
--- New Members Talks ---
As the name suggests, this is for newly joined ELSI members to give short talks. They are encouraged to talk about their scientific achievements and future plans at ELSI. This is a good opportunity to get familiar with each other.
--- PI’s Scope ---
This is for ELSI PIs to give talks. They are encouraged to talk about their visions (on-going works, future plans, strategy at ELSI) and not about their achievements. This is an opportunity for ELSI PIs to present their leadership and flagship at ELSI, enhance the scientific fusion, and inspire members to pursue the scientific goals of ELSI (Origins of Earth and Life).
