Job Description |
The Earth-Life Science Institute (ELSI) is part of the World Premier International Research Center Initiative (WPI) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). ELSI has a research and administrative vision to become a globally competitive center that can attract the best scientists from around the world to come work in Japan. ELSI now seeks a laboratory manager in the high-pressure mineral physics (Unit-D) laboratory, who will manage the laboratory and also conduct research using its facility. The required jobs are as follows. ・ Managing the high-pressure mineral physics laboratory in consultation with a unit leader. ・ Setting up and maintaining lab facilities and equipment (EPMA, high-temperature furnace, piston-cylinder apparatus, diamond-anvil cell, etc.). ・ Assisting experiments by laboratory members and visitors, including those at a synchrotron facility. The lab manager can use up to 50% of his/her time for research.

Term |
The contract will end on March 31, 2020. The contract can be extended, but not beyond March 31, 2022. The employment period is subject to Article 7 of the Institute's Employment Regulations for Fixed-Term Staff and Paragraph 7 of its Supplementary Provision.

Salary |
420,000-500,000 yen/month The applicant's salary will be determined in accordance with the Institute's Employment Regulations for Fixed-Term Staff.
