Title: Linking elemental cycles in glacial systems through microbial processes.
Speaker: Prof. Mark Skidmore (Montana State University)
Host: Shawn McGlynn
Abstract:
The cryosphere is an important component of the Earth system, and plays important role in many regional and global biogeochemical cycles. The presentation will highlight the role of both abiotic and biotic processes in the cycling of carbon and other associated elements (particularly N, S and Fe) in glaciated systems, and their impacts on downstream environments. Examples will be drawn from a variety of glacial systems.
